Lou Hurley

Founder and Administration

After a family holiday to Nepal in August 2015, having witnessed the devastation of the April 2015 earthquake, I founded The Dusty Yak Foundation with my husband, Matt Hurley. I manage the administrative side of the charity, our fundraising projects and support our staff in Nepal, in particular with Project Budhanilkantha, looking after the girls’ welfare.

Founder and Trustee

Having witnessed the horrific destruction caused by the 2015 earthquake in Nepal, I founded The Dusty Yak Foundation with my wife, Lou. I served in the British Army with the Gurkhas on three operational tours.  I oversee all projects and help to secure funding.

I have known Matthew for many years and was instantaneously inspired by his commitment and passion, along with Lou, for The Dusty Yak and their tangible and demonstrable change that they have made to the lives of neglected children in Nepal. My father served as a Ghurkha and so it was for me an easy decision to become involved in The Dusty Yak. I am principally involved in the fundraising and corporate governance of the charity.

Trustee

I have my own property development business and am a qualified Chartered Surveyor based in London. Having known Matthew since school days I became involved in the charity having attended one of his initial presentations. My increased involvement as a trustee was born through the unique nature of the charity and the way it conducts its activities. I assist predominately in the fundraising side of the charity. Outside of work I am married to Kezzie and have two soon to be three children. I have a passion for horseracing, boxing and country pursuits.
